BAHN GE is a classic 2D transit and railway simulation and layout editor developed by JBSS Chemnitz/Dresden (Jan Bochmann Simulation Systems). It lets you design and operate complex public transport networks—streetcars (trams), light rail, subways, commuter rail, and buses—using detailed tools for tracks, roads, signaling, and scheduling. Focused on operational realism rather than business management, BAHN GE enables you to build routes, define timetables and headways, place signals and electrification, and watch vehicles run to schedule across large, intricately modeled maps.

Key features:

  • Integrated editor and simulator for building and operating networks in a tile-based 2D environment
  • Tools for tracks, roads, stations, depots, switches, signals, and overhead wire
  • Flexible routing and timetabling, including headways, dwell times, and short turns
  • Realistic operations with block signaling, speed limits, and junction priorities
  • Support for a wide range of vehicle types and extensive configuration options
  • Scales from small model-style layouts to citywide networks with many concurrently running vehicles
  • Lightweight Windows application with modest system requirements and an active user community for sharing layouts and resources

BAHN GE is well suited for transit enthusiasts, model railroaders, educators, and anyone interested in designing and observing realistic public transport operations.

BAHN GE is developed by JBSS Chemnitz/Dresden. The most popular version of this product among our users is 1.0.
